Danilo Carlo Petrucci is an Italian rider born in Terni on October 24th, 1990. At the age of eight years he started practising minitrial riding a Beta and in 1999 was already Italian Minitrial Champion. In the following year, he became Italian Mini trophy LEM  Champion and from 2002 to 2004 Regional Minicross Champion.
The first experiences with a race bike were between 2006 and 2007 when he first rode a Honda then participated in the Yamaha Trophy finishing 2nd.

In 2008 and 2009 he took part in the European Superstock 600 Championship with a Yamaha YZF-R6 finishing his second season with 3 wins and 4 pole positions.
Selected by the FMI to represent Italy at the European Championship in 2009, he won the title of European Junior Stock 1000 Champion.

In 2010 Danilo Petrucci participated with the Kawasaki ZX-10R of Team Pedercini in both the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup and the Italian Superbike Championship winning the Italian under-25 Title.
In 2011, supported by the Italian Motorcycle Federation Team Italy, he ran in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup and the Italian Championship Stock 1000 category riding the Ducati 1098R of Barni Racing Team.

Danilo Petrucci joined the “Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro della Polizia di Stato”, and in a single season scored 10 pole positions, 9 wins and 12 podiums, winning the 2011 Italian Stock 1000 Championship with one race to go and finishing runner-up in the 2011 FIM Superstock 1000 2 points behind the winner.

In 2012 came the call from the Came Ioda Racing Project MotoGP team. He began the season riding a TR003 Ioda then moved to a Suter MMX1. His best result was 8th place in Valencia. He ended the season in 19th place with 27 points.

Confirmed by Came Ioda Racing Team in 2013, Petrucci obtained his best result of 11th place in Catalonia and ended the season in 17th place with 26 points.

In 2014 he was given a specific ART (Open class) bike. Due to the fracture of his left wrist after a crash in the Spanish GP warm-up, he was forced to miss the races in Spain, France, Italy and Catalonia.
In the rest of the year, his best result was an 11th place in Aragon, and he ended the season in 20th place with 17 points.

In 2015 Petrux joined the Pramac Racing Team and his MotoGP season was awesome as he ended up 10th (113 points) in the final classification obtaining a stunning 2nd place in the OCTO British GP at Silverstone.

In the 2016 MotoGP season Danilo Petrucci again raced the Ducati Desmosedici GP of the OCTO Pramac Racing Team. His season started with an injury during the Australia test that forced him to miss the first four races. Petrucci was back riding his Ducati Desmosedici in 2015 at Le Mans and achieved the best result of the season (7th place as in the Czech Republic).

In 2017 Petrux started his sixth consecutive season in MotoGP, his fourth with Pramac Racing, riding an official Ducati Desmosedici GP. On 4 June 2017 he climbed onto the third step of the podium in the Italian Grand Prix, while on 25 June at Assen he managed to climb onto the podium again, ranking second. He also finished second in the San Marino Grand Prix and third in Japan. He finished the season in 8th place with 124 points.

In the 2018 season Petrucci is currently lying in seventh position with 119 points, his best result for the Pramac Racing Team being a second place in France.
