Octo’s Products & Services

With telematics applications in motor rental and fleet management, car manufacturing, government sectors, Octo’s services span driving and riding behaviour, crash notification and claims assistance.

Octo data and analytics extract data from systems on board cars and motorcycles allowing insurance, automotive, rental and fleet partners to provide simpler, cheaper and easier customer insurance policies including “pay per use” and “pay as you drive.”

Octo’s Clear Box devices have so far been installed in over 3.7 million cars and motorbikes globally. They’re called Clear Boxes, because they are like black-boxes, but more transparent.

Using Octo’s systems and data, insurers also offer drivers and bikers services like vehicle recovery in case of theft, and information about their driving style.

If there’s an accident, automatic accident detection alerts helps the emergency services to get to victims quicker and reduce injuries. Accident certificates help insurers to back up their client’s version of events and identify fraud.

Octo Rider 1 (for bikers)

Following 13 years’ experience in car telematics, Octo launched technology for bikers with telematics insurance subscriptions in May 2015.

Octo Rider 1 is a compact, low consumption telematics unit with a microprocessor, a high precision 3-axis internal accelerometer, a GSM module with internal antenna and an internal GPS/GLONASS receiver plus rechargeable back up battery. Systems are professionally-installed.

Data collected through the system helps insurance companies define rider insurance rates, manages the costs of claims and fraud, and gives bikers a range of dedicated services.
