The Shell Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix qualifying – started with a strong delay due to the heavy rain before the Q1 – ends with a very positive result for Jack Miller and Danilo Petrucci who will start tomorrow from the second and third row respectively.
After having directly conquered the Q2 thanks to a superb FP3 (Jack 3rd and Petrux 6th), on the Sepang circuit still abundantly wet, the two Alma Pramac Racing riders are great protagonists of the first run (Petrux 2nd and Jack 3rd) failing, however, in the second time attack to get the best from their rain tyres. As a result, Jack Miller will start tomorrow from the sixth position and Danilo Petrucci from the seventh in the #MalaysianGP that has been anticipated at 13 (local time) due to the heavy rains expected in the afternoon.
UPDATE – Marc Marquez has been handed a six-place grid penalty after being deemed to have been riding irresponsibly in an incident with Andrea Iannone in Q2. As a result Jack Miller will start from P5 and Danilo Petrucci from second row in P6.

P7 – Danilo Petrucci
“After the first run I had a lot of confidence. We decided to try the soft rain tyre at the rear but only afterwards we realized that it was less performing than the medium one. I don’t know what the weather will be like tomorrow but I am confident I can stay in the Top 5”.

P6 – Jack Miller
“If I have to be honest I was convinced that I could win the front row but in the second time attack the front tyre started to deteriorate a lot. Starting from the second row is still a good result also in light of the race pace that throughout the weekend was very positive”.
